When you think of the best college Lacrosse players, you probably think of the ones that play the midfield. But, there are so many good players on the field that it can be tough to pick just one. I’ve narrowed it down to five. Listed below are some of the best players in the country.

jessie coffield

Who is Jessie Coffield is a top college lacrosse player and a product of the Boston College lacrosse program. She was a standout in the 2011 NCAA Lacrosse National Championship and was awarded the Chevrolet Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week. As a student-athlete, she excelled in all three areas of the game: defense, attack and midfield. Despite not being one of the most widely-known players in the country, Coffield still had an enormous impact on the teams she played on.

After college, Jessie Coffield turned her attention to her career and started working as a sports reporter. She has hosted her own show on DraftKings called “The Sweat.” She has also worked with Revs TV and CBT News. Growing up, she was a hockey player. Her parents were William and Kristen Coffield.

Brendan Nichtern

Brendan Nichtern is having one of the best freshmen seasons in college lacrosse history, and he’s quickly becoming one of the best players in the country. He’s already set the school record for assists in a season and is five points shy of the single-season points record. Nichtern has a calm presence on the field and is an excellent playmaker. His stellar play has earned him a spot on the Tewaraton Award finalist list, which is given to the nation’s best college lacrosse players.

Nichtern was selected as one of the five finalists for the Tewaaraton Award, which is given to the best collegian in the country. Other finalists include Jeremy Boltus, Chris Gray, Logan Wisnauskas, Sam Handley, and Connor Shellenberger of Virginia. The Tewaaraton Award winner will be named on June 2.

Matt Brandau

Matt Brandau is one of the best college lacrosse players in the country. He has set the freshman scoring record at Yale. The Connecticut native, who is from the state of Connecticut, is a fraternal twin. He and his brother Chris attended the same high school in Maryland, and they were ranked by Inside Lacrosse as top-100 recruits. While Chris was a star at Boys’ Latin School, Matt excelled on the lacrosse field.

The Eastern College Athletic Conference recently announced the 2022 Division I Men’s All-ECAC team. University of Vermont’s Thomas McConvey was named Player of the Year, while Ethan Rall won Defensive Player of the Year. Fairfield University freshman Jack McKenna was named Rookie of the Year, and Rutgers head coach Brian Brecht was named Coach of the Year.

Logan Wisnauskas

In his 6th season of college lacrosse, Logan Wisnauskas is one the top players in the country. He has been named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year and is a key part of the Maryland Terrapins’ offensive attack. In addition to scoring 48 goals, Wisnauskas has added 36 assists, passing Jared Bernhardt for the most points in program history. The sophomore may be setting himself up for a professional career. In addition to his stellar high school play, Wisnauskas is a former Maryland commit. He is a two-time All-American and transferred to Maryland from Syracuse.

This freshman was one of the main drivers of Maryland’s run to the 2021 National Championship game. He led the Terps to a perfect regular season record with 72 points and 41 goals. His best performance came in the national championship against Virginia, and he was named to the All-NCAA tournament team and third-team All-America.

Dominic Pietramala

Dominic Pietramala is one of the best college lacrosse players in the nation, and he is from a family full of talented athletes. His father, Dave Pietramala, was a legendary player and head coach at Johns Hopkins for two decades. His brother, Nicholas, is also in the mix at several schools. The brothers have spent the summer playing with the Annapolis Hawks, and they will decide on which school to attend next fall.

Dominic Pietramala’s twin brother, Nick, plays defense and is also a standout lacrosse player. The Pietramala twins are a dynamic duo. Dominic is a left-handed attackman, while Nick is a smart defenseman. Their fathers encouraged their sons to play other sports, but they’ve all remained loyal to lacrosse.
